Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 1 cup syrup
Course: Dessert, Drinks

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Make the Simple Syrup Base
Combine water, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Avoid high heat to keep the syrup smooth.
  2. Add Pumpkin and Spices
Stir in pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract. Simmer gently until the flavors blend and the syrup becomes fragrant.
  3. Let the Flavor Infuse
Remove from heat and let the syrup rest for a few minutes. This allows the spices to develop a deeper, more balanced flavor.
  4. Strain for a Smooth Texture
Pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove excess pumpkin solids and create a smoother consistency.
  5. Cool and Store
Let the syrup cool completely, then transfer it to a clean glass jar or bottle. Store in the refrigerator and stir or shake before using if separation occurs.
