Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Servings: 8 rolls
Course: Main Course

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain yogurt (Greek yogurt works best)

Method

  1. Step 1 – Preheat The Oven
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Starting with a hot oven helps the rolls rise properly.
  2. Step 2 – Mix The Dough
    In a medium bowl combine:
    1 cup self-rising flour
    1 cup plain yogurt
Stir with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
At first it may look messy. That’s normal.
  3. Step 3 – Knead Briefly
Dust a little flour onto the counter.
Turn the dough out and knead gently for 2–3 minutes.
You’re not developing gluten like traditional bread—you’re simply bringing the dough together.
    The dough should feel:
    soft
    slightly tacky
    easy to shape
If it sticks to your hands, add a light sprinkle of flour.
  4. Step 4 – Shape The Rolls
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a small ball using your palms.
Place them on the baking sheet with a little space between them.
    Optional but delicious:
    Brush the tops with:
    melted butter
    egg wash
    Then sprinkle:
    sesame seeds
    poppy seeds
    everything bagel seasoning
  5. Step 5 – Bake
Place the tray in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes.
    The rolls should become:
    lightly golden
    slightly firm on top
Your kitchen will start smelling like fresh bakery bread. Always a good sign.
  6. Step 6 – Cool Slightly And Serve
Let the rolls rest 5 minutes after baking.
Then slice one open and add butter while it's still warm.
    Simple? Yes.
    Comforting? Absolutely.
